Nom-nom bids you good evening!!!
Sometimes, life throws us big curve balls. Mine did, and the ugly depression monster came for a lengthy stay. The election didn’t help.
New meds, however, are making a difference. I wrote 235 words in ‘Song and Staff’ last week. That doesn’t seem like much, but it’s a step forward. I had to severely cut back on my coffee, which provided some seriously icky headaches for about 2 weeks.
Even when I couldn’t find the energy to get off the couch, I had hope. Hope that someone would leave a new review of one of the trilogy books. Hope that people who picked up copies at Geek Girl Con would tell their friends that it was a series worth reading. Hope that we, as a country, can stop being afraid of someone that looks different, talks different, or loves differently than we do personally. The trans student just wants to use a restroom. They don’t want to harm anyone in there. The foreigner who came here legally did so to make a better life for themselves and their family. Just because I choose to color my hair purple doesn’t mean I’m going to force you to do the same.
I had hope that I’d get back to writing. That I’d find another con or two that would let me have a table on their Writer’s Block/Artists Alley. Applications for Washington Summer Con and Rose City Comicon have been submitted. I’m also returning to Olympia Cards and Comics on Free Comic Book Day in May!
I have to fight to keep that hope, bring those dreams to life. Regain the absolute joy I get from writing. Hearing the keys click on my keyboard now is music to me. I learned to type on an actual typewriter, and I love the sound of a ‘noisy’ keyboard. Eyes closed, fingers flying, and steady breathing is an intoxicating combination.
Will I post more here? I hope to, when I have something I want to say. When space gets confirmed, definitely.
Until then, keep hope alive in your heart. There’s still good in the world, despite how it seems right now.

For me, it’s still editing even when I’m under the weather. I live vicariously through other people’s writing, and I’m pleased when i can help make a manuscript better. I’m fortunate to have a couple of authors who request me, which is a huge ego boost for me.
Sending you serenity and sense.
