Everyone please welcome author S. C. Alban!
1. What’s the title of your latest release? Link?
My latest release is A Life Without Living. You can find it at:http://www.amazon.com/Life-Without-Living-S-CAlban/dp/1625261543/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424753638&sr=8-1&keywords=A+Life+Without+Living
2. Why do you like writing in this genre?
I think I love writing fantasy because I love reading fantasy. There is something to be said about being able to open a book and literally disappear into a different world with characters as real as anyone. I love the idea that anything is possible and if I can create a world in which the fantastical becomes reality (if only for a brief moment), then I am a happy lady.
3. What do you like to read?
I love to read fantasy. I love vampires and witches and werewolves and magic, so pretty much anything with those components is going to be an entertaining read for me. I like Rochelle Mead and Laurell K. Hamilton.
4. Favorite movie?
If by favorite movie, you mean a movie that I could watch over and over and over in a single day and never get tired of it, well, then I’d have to say The Goonies. But really, I enjoy a lot of movies from Whale Rider to Harry Potter to Little Ashes to Lord of the Rings to Food, Inc. I’m all over the place with movies. It really just depends what mood I’m in.
5. What are your writing habits? Music or silence? Daily regimen or spurts of creativity?
I’m a loud music listener. I really need to tune out the world and go into my head when I write. I try to keep a schedule, but I’m still trying to figure out what my rhythms are.
6. What was the most surreal moment you’ve had as an author?
I recently went to the East bay Comic-Con in Northern California. The most surreal moment was when I was meeting people and they were excited to meet me and talk about my book. I remember signing the first book I sold and thinking “Holy cow! I’m an author for real!” I still can’t believe that it’s actually happening.
7. How can readers find you?
I’m all over the place now… You can find me on Facebook (www.facebook.com/scalban), Twitter (www.twitter.com/muchasfloras), my website where I blog (www.scalban.com), and on Instagram @S.C._Alban
8. What do you know now about being published that you wish you’d known before submitting?
I wish I would have started my blog earlier…like 3 years earlier…lol! It’s been such a huge learning curve for me and I do wish I had laid more ground work down before I jumped on this wild ride! But I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
9. Favorite snack/drink while writing?
Popcorn. And, a scotch.
10. Look at your writing area…what’s the item you keep to inspire you (piece of artwork, figurine)?
I’ve never really thought about that before. But now that you ask, I usually have a candle lit in the room where I am writing. That dancing flame keeps me going. I find it very motivating. Funny, how I never really noticed that before.
Thanks for stopping by, S.C.! Best of luck with the book!
